About IUAA
Over 254,000 IU alumni live in Indiana. More than 50 percent of Indiana's physicians, 64 percent of optometrists, 35 percent of teachers, 75 percent of lawyers, 40 percent of nurses, and 90 percent of dentists are IU graduates.
Each graduate, former student, current student, and friend of IU has a lifelong connection to Indiana University. At the IU Alumni Association, we help forge these connections into ongoing, engaging relationships with IU.
Articles and Bylaws
The IUAA was established as a not-for-profit corporation in 1969. The IUAA articles and bylaws define the organization's purposes, structure, and governance.
Association History
The IUAA was founded in 1854 when 15 alumni gathered to assist the university after a devastating fire. More than 150 years later, the IUAA is a worldwide organization serving more than 500,000 IU graduates.
Awards
The IUAA presents awards honoring service to the university and the Alumni Association. In addition, many alumni chapters, groups, and campuses bestow their own awards on alumni and friends of IU.

Mission and Goals
In 1998–99 a Visioning Task Force of IUAA staff and volunteers met to study the issues facing the Alumni Association and develop recommendations to guide the IUAA for the next five years. One of these recommendations was to convene another task force five years later. This Strategic Directions Task Force 2005–10 offered its recommendations in mid-2005, and many have already been enacted.
Operating Endowment
The Jerry F. Tardy Operating Endowment supports IUAA programs that connect and serve IU alumni and Indiana University.
