DeVault Alumni Center
First Floor
When you enter the north (main) entrance of the center, you'll find yourself in the Carlton Foyer (1-2), named for Dave and Marcie Carlton. This is the lobby and reception area of the 30,000-square-foot building. Inlaid in brass in the center of the floor is the IU seal.
Immediately to your left (east) is the Metz Board Room (3), a gift from the Dr. Arthur R. Metz Foundation. This meeting room accommodates 18 people.
Directly south of the Metz Board Room is the Kelley Dining Room (4), named for Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Kelley. This dining area can comfortably accommodate a sit-down dinner for up to 90 guests.
When you exit through the south doors of the dining room, you will find yourself on the beautiful Haugh Plaza (5). Named after Robert and Barbara Haugh, this outdoor patio is ideal for receptions and gatherings of up to 350 and features a fountain. The plaza is paved with bricks inscribed with the names of alumni and friends. More than 500 donors have contributed $1,000 each to have a brick inscribed on the plaza. Inscriptions will continue to be added on the plaza bricks as additional donations are received.
Directly opposite the Metz Board Room in the northwest corner of the first floor is the comfortable Dutton Living Room (6), named for Ben and Jane Dutton. The welcoming atmosphere and baby grand piano make it a lovely gathering place for up to 30 people. The living room opens into the Inskeep Library (7), honoring Richard and Harriett Inskeep, where a timeline display honors the rich history of Indiana University and the IUAA. The combined rooms provide space for a standing reception for up to 75 guests.
On the far west side of the first level you'll find a lounge (8) for use by visitors and staff. Comfortably supplied with a sofa, tables, and chairs, this area offers a quiet atmosphere for the occasional break.
In the far southwest corner you'll find the staff lunch room (9). Utilized by many of the employees in the building, this kitchen features a refrigerator, two microwaves, a coffee maker, and vending machines.
Rounding out the first floor are the offices of the Student Alumni Association (10) on the south side of the building. One of the largest and most active student organizations on the Bloomington campus with over 2,000 annual members, SAA sponsors more than 40 events and programs each year.
An elevator is located at the west entrance.
