Homecoming Events

Window/Banner Competition
  1. Hang a banner or paint windows at your organization's location! If your organization does not have a physical space, SAA will connect you with a local business that will let you come and paint their window to give them IU Homecoming pride. Entries will be judged on creativity, use of color, design, and incorporation of the Field of Dreams theme.

Yell Like Hell
  1. Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m., Alumni Hall at the IMU
  2. Show your Hoosier pride in a student spirit competition! Previous student groups have performed skits, danced, and lip synced their way into the winners’ circle. Entries will be judged on originality, appearance (including costumes and props), and crowd response.
  3. There is a mandatory prescreening for the act. One or two members need to come to the DeVault Alumni Center to describe the act and bring music so that we can get it ready for the Alumni Hall. Please indicate which day would work better for your group’s prescreening. SAA will contact you to decide on a specific time.

    • Tuesday, Sept. 30, 7 to 10 p.m.
    • Wednesday, Oct. 8, 7 to 10 p.m.
    • Sunday, Oct. 19, 5 to 10 p.m.

Parade
  1. Friday, Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m
    Line up begins at 4:15 p.m.
  2. The 50th Annual Homecoming Parade will go down Third Street and north on Indiana Avenue to the Sample Gates. Your group will get points for participating – even if it’s just walking! The judging is in several categories including the best use of the Homecoming theme, the best overall float entry, and the best marching group. Any housing unit, club, department, or student organization on the Indiana University campus may enter the competitions. Entries must be affiliated to IU in this way. Please indicate how your group plans on participating:

Pre-Parade Meeting
  1. There is a mandatory pre-parade meeting to participate and learn the rule and regulations of the 2008 homecoming parade. Please indicate which day your group plans to attend.
    • Sunday, Oct. 19, 7 to 8 p.m. at the DAC
    • Tuesday, Oct. 21, 7 to 8 p.m. at the DAC
IU vs Purdue Blood Drive
  1. Show your school spirit by donating blood. Homecoming points are not awarded, but bleed crimson to help us beat Purdue!
