Welcome to Chapter News! Every month, alumni chapter leaders receive this e-newsletter with information regarding IU, the Alumni Association, and best practices for alumni chapters.
Chapter Financial Reports Due in November
Don't forget! Twice each year chapter
treasurers are responsible for submitting
financial reports to the IUAA. These
reports detail how chapter funds are being used,
and are required of all chapters. Please
remember, chapters who fail to submit financial
reports on time risk losing their status as an
active IUAA chapter and subsequent dues
allocations. The first financial report of
the current fiscal year (Mid-Year Report) is due
no later than November 30, 2006. This
report covers activities taking place between
May 1 through October 31, 2006. Mid-year report forms and instructions will be mailed to all chapter treasurers in late October. For more information and to access the financial report spreadsheet, visit the Guidelines for Alumni Chapter Treasurers or contact Aimee Hansell at ahansell@indiana.edu or (800) 824-3044.

Membership Matters!
Alumni chapters play an important role in
promoting IU Alumni Association membership -
from special member pricing at chapter events to
simply reminding friends and fellow chapter
leaders to renew their IUAA memberships.
Remember, your chapter's annual dues allocation
is based on the number of IUAA members in your
area. The more members you have, the more
programming funds you receive, which can lead to
more events and activities for your chapter.
Also, by promoting membership, your chapter may
be recognized with the Membership Matters $500
Award at the Chapter Leaders Conference next
June.
For
membership information, stats, resources, and
tips for growing your membership base, be sure
to read "Membership Matters," the monthly
membership e-mail report. To help you use these
reports as a continual source for membership
ideas, we've archived each edition online http://www.alumni.indiana.edu/membership/monthlyreport/.

Blood Donor Challenge
The battle for blood is
on! The 10th annual IU vs. Purdue Blood Donor
Challenge is underway, and you can help IU win
this friendly competition. Donate blood at any
of the Indiana Blood Center, American Red Cross,
Community Blood, Heartland Blood, or South Bend
Medical Foundation blood donor center locations
and help save lives. The university with the
most blood donations will be honored at the Old
Oaken Bucket football game at Purdue on November
18. If you are unable to donate, you can always
ask a friend to donate for you. Make sure you
tell them you are donating for IU! This
is a great way for chapters to become involved
in a worthwhile community service project. For donation locations and an updated
scoreboard, please visit IU/Purdue Blood Donor Challenge.
Where is Your Usual Hangout for IU Basketball?
Even though IU
football season is underway, IU basketball will
be here before we know it! Many alumni chapters
annually sponsor game-watching parties where
alumni and fans can enjoy the games together. If
your chapter sponsors TV game watch parties or
has a specific place ("The Usual Hangout") where
IU fans can gather to watch IU basketball games,
please let the IU Alumni Association know about
it soon! We post game watches and game watch
locations on our Web site each year and we are
in the process of updating our list. To update
your chapter's game watch location, contact
Carolynn Nath at cnath@indiana.edu or (800) 824-3044.
Looking for a great giveaway?
Try Mini Mascots, just 80
cents each and no minimums! These
interlock appliques come on a card that features
the IU fight song and promotes IUAA membership
on the back. This is just one of many
giveaways you can order for your events from
IUAA. Orders for Mini Mascots and other
giveaways should be placed through your staff
liaisons.
