The Board of Managers is the supervisory body of the IU Alumni Association. It establishes and oversees the policies of the association and meets two to four times a year.
The board is composed of the Chief Alumni Officer as well as 13 volunteer leaders, including the immediate past chair of the association, five officers, six at-large members, and a student representative.
At-large members serve staggered three-year terms, while the officers are elected annually. The student representative is appointed annually.

IU alumni are eligible to serve on the Board of Managers. Nominate yourself or another eager volunteer by November 30 in order to be considered for the next fiscal year's nominations. The Governance Committee meets in January to select the slate. If selected, candidates will be contacted to accept the nomination by February 15. If you are not selected, you may submit your name with a petition signed by 100 Alumni Association members to the IUAA by February 28.
Yung Nguyen
Chair, 2025–2026
Indianapolis, Ind.Yung is the medical affairs director for Cook Group Inc. Previously he was staff anesthesiologist for IU Health. He has served the IU Alumni Association as an at-large member of the Executive Council as well as manager at large for the Board of Managers. He is a past president of the School of Medicine Alumni Board, and in 2021, Yung was named Physician Mentor of the Year by the IU School of Medicine.
Shontrai Irving
Chair-Elect, 2025–2026
Gary, Ind.Shontrai is a clinical professor of business law at Purdue University Northwest. He is past president of the national board of the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club and current president of the Groups Alumni. In 2010, he was awarded the Charlie Nelms Distinguished Alumni Award and the Hudson Holland Scholars Program Service Award for outstanding service to Indiana University. In 2022, he received the IUAA Volunteer Leadership Award as well as Indiana's Sagamore of the Wabash.
Mary Susan Buhner
Vice Chair, 2025-2026
Fishers, Ind.Mary Susan has been Fox 59’s Parenting and Family Lifestyle contributor since 2009 and was named President of Academic and Institution Services for the AEA Institute as of March 1, 2024. She helped start The Hearing Resource Center, a free clinic for children born deaf or hearing-impaired, for which she received a Leadership Service Award from former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. Mary Susan has served as chairperson of IU Women’s Leadership Colloquium and Women’s Philanthropy Council, and on the board of directors for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She currently serves on IU’s College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Board, the Dean of Student Affairs’ Parent Advisory Board, and the Greek Life Task Force.
Kyle King
Secretary, 2025–2026
Evansville, Ind.Kyle has served in leadership positions with the Evansville, Optometry, and Marching Hundred alumni communities. He was instrumental in leading and successfully executing one of the largest fundraising campaigns of its kind for the Evansville Chapter of the IUAA. Kyle received the IUAA Volunteer Leadership Award in 2019. He works as an optometrist at Evansville Eyecare Associates.
Shelley Raper
Treasurer, 2025–2026
Fishers, Ind.Shelley has served as a Kelley School of Business volunteer in various roles on the KSOB Alumni Association Board of Directors, connecting with students as an Industry Connections panelist, and partnering with faculty on special Compass projects. She was an IUAA Executive Council member and the Finance Committee from 2016-2022. She has been awarded the IU Bicentennial Medal in 2019 and the Kelley Alumni Leadership Award in 2022. Shelley works as the corporate relations manager at Brooke's Place and is currently the board chair of We R Richmond Scholarships Inc.
John Brown
Manager at Large, 2024–2027
Westfield, Ind.John is a two-time graduate of the IU Bloomington campus. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in history at the College of Arts and Sciences and then earned his law degree at the Maurer School of Law. John has served on the Neal-Marshall Alumni Club Board beginning in 2019 and on the IUAA Executive Council from 2021-2024. In October 2024, he joined the Maurer School of Law Alumni Board. As an undergraduate, John was active in the Singing Hoosiers and IU Soul Revue. Professionally, John is a claims specialist with Progressive Insurance in the greater Indianapolis area.
Shishir Deshpande
Manager at Large, 2023–2026
Delhi, IndiaShishir earned the Master of Laws in 2006 from the McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. He has been chapter president of the Delhi Chapter since 2016, past member of the Executive Council from 2020-2023, and has served on the inaugural IU McKinney Dean's Global Advisory Council. He is a practicing attorney and is Advocate on Record, Supreme Court of India. He was honored with the Volunteer Leadership Award in 2022.
Jason Gerdom
Manager at Large, 2025–2028
Watertown, Mass.Jason is Senior Support Operations Coordinator at Harvard Business School. Jason is a three-term at-large member of the Executive Council and has served on the Assessment and Finance Committees. He was president, vice president, and board member of the Boston Alumni Board from 2009-2021. He is dedicated to scholarship fundraising to help students from the New England area and established the Gerdom Family Scholarship in 2023. For his active leadership, he was awarded the Volunteer Leadership Award in 2024.
Stacie Richter
Manager at Large, 2025–2028
Wayzata, Minn.Stacie served two terms as member at large on the IUAA Executive Council where she has been an active participant on the Assessment and Belonging Committees. She held critical leadership positions, including president and vice president, of the Twin Cities Chapter of the IUAA since 2009. Stacie formerly served as Vice President of People and Culture at Beacon Mobility which provided transportation services to elderly and disabled persons in the Twin Cities area.
Mike Wargo
Manager at Large, 2024–2027
Granger, Ind.Mike is chief operating officer at the Hospice Foundation in South Bend where he oversees strategic and operational aspects of the organization. He has served on the Finance Committee and Executive Council for the IUAA, IU South Bend Board of Advisors, IU South Bend For All Campaign Committee, the IUAA Strategic Directions Task Force, and was president of the IU South Bend Alumni Board. For his leadership in these and other areas, Mike was honored with the IUAA President’s Award in 2001, the IU South Bend Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010, and the Continuing Studies Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999.
Dawn Michele Whitehead
Immediate Past Chair, 2025–2026
Washington, D.C.Dawn is the vice president of the Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community, and Careers at the American Association of Colleges and Universities. Dawn has been a participant in the Washington, D.C. IUAA chapter and has served in leadership positions on the Neal Marshall Alumni Club board. She is an active member of IU’s Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council and a partner of IU’s Black Philanthropy Circle. In 2021, Dawn was named an inaugural member of the Institute of International Education’s National Academy for International Education.
Aidan Lyman
Student Representative, 2025–2026
Cincinnati, OhioAidan is a senior studying Finance, Accounting, and Business Analytics at the Kelley School of Business at IU Bloomington. He most recently served as the Director of Alumni Engagement for Kelley Student Government and as a Student Coordinator for Camp Kelley, a program helping first-year students acclimate to their first moments on campus. Professionally, he has spent the last two summers with Foxhole Equity, aiding multiple portfolio companies in strategic acquisitions, asset management, and scaling operations. He is planning to graduate from the IU Bloomington campus in May 2026.
Patricia Riveire Stumpf
Chief Alumni Officer
Bloomington, Ind.As Chief Alumni Officer of the IU Alumni Association, Tricia is the 12th alumni executive and the very first woman to hold this role. Within the community, Tricia serves as Director of Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County and sits on the board of directors for the WonderLab Museum of Science, Health, and Technology. She earned her master’s degree from Indiana University in higher education administration, and her bachelor’s degree from DePauw University. A Bloomington native, Tricia and her husband Jeff have four children.
