INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indiana University Indianapolis will honor alum Nate Feltman with the Maynard K. Hine Award on Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Indianapolis. Feltman will be celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the university and presented with the award at the Alumni Leaders Dinner.
The Hine Award, given annually since 1974, is named for the first chancellor of the Indiana University Indianapolis campus. Maynard K. Hine maintained that a strong alumni program was essential for the university. Feltman will receive a bronze medal engraved with Hine’s profile.
“It is with great admiration that we acknowledge Nate’s exemplary volunteer leadership within the IU Alumni Association,” stated Chief Alumni Officer Tricia Riveire Stumpf. “His unwavering dedication and meaningful service have profoundly enriched our alumni community and the broader university.”

Nate Feltman is chief executive officer and owner of IBJ Media, parent company of the Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside Indiana Business, and the Indiana Lawyer. He also serves as publisher for the Indianapolis Business Journal and the Indiana Lawyer.
Nate began his career as a corporate lawyer working in Moscow, Russia in the 1990s for the global law firm Baker & McKenzie, then as a partner at Chicago (Altheimer & Gray) and Indianapolis (Ice Miller, Baker & Daniels) based law firms. He transitioned from law to business in 2010 serving as co-owner and chief executive officer of the medical equipment company Home Health Depot until its sale to Lincare in 2017.
Appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels, Nate served as Secretary of Commerce for the State of Indiana and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) from 2007–2009 and was a member of Governor Daniels’ cabinet during Daniels’ first term.
Feltman holds a B.S. in Business from the Kelley School of Business and a B.A. in Political Science from the College of Arts & Sciences, Indiana University Bloomington. He received his law degree from Indiana University McKinney School of Law and an LL.M. in Russian law from the Institute of State and Law, Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow, Russia).
